Release of 2026-09-27 — Colorado License Lookup

2026-09-27 — Colorado License Lookup (colorado-license-lookup.com) publishes a search layer over Colorado's professional and occupational licensing register: 597,451 active licenses, every license type translated where the state translates it, and the renewal calendar that the register contains but does not show.

The figures

• 597,451 active licenses, in 92 types and 108 Colorado cities, collected 2026-08-20.
• 92,890 of them are Registered Nurse — the largest single profession.
• 20,930 licenses are held by a company rather than a person.
• 13,925 active licenses carry at least one disciplinary action (2.3 % of them); this site publishes the counts, never a case attached to a name.
• 6 license-type codes of 92 have no label in DORA's own type table; we show the raw code rather than invent one.

Why it matters

Practising a regulated profession without a current license is unlawful in Colorado, and the state publishes the register so the public can check. It publishes it as a lookup and a bulk file; neither shows which professions renew together, nor how many licenses a single company holds. Both are in the data.

Limits, stated

Counted from the State of Colorado's Professional and Occupational Licenses dataset and its license-type table on data.colorado.gov, public domain, collected 2026-08-20. Active licenses only: DORA's full file holds expired, cancelled and revoked rows, which are excluded here and which is why this site cannot say that someone never held a license. Every figure can be recomputed from the pages of this site.
