### The source

Everything here comes from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies'
 Professional and Occupational
Licenses dataset and its license-type table, on data.colorado.gov, in the
public domain, collected on **2026-08-20**.

### ⚠️ The scope: active licenses only

DORA's full file holds 1,603,416 rows. Most describe licenses that are no
longer live — 910,979 expired, plus cancelled, surrendered and revoked ones.
This site loads the **597,451** marked active.

The consequence is worth stating: **absence from this site is not
evidence that someone never held a license**, only that they hold no
active one now. It also means the revoked and suspended licenses are outside
this site entirely.

### ⚠️ The number is not the key

Colorado numbers run sequentially *within a license type*. The number
1 is held by dozens of people in different professions. This site keys on
`TYPE-number`, and a bare-number search returns every match rather
than guessing. Anyone building on this data by joining on the number alone will
merge strangers into one record.

### Where the site stops on purpose

13,925 active licenses carry a disciplinary action. No page here attaches
one to a name and none carries a case number; the counts are published because
a rate describes the system rather than a person.
